Castleknock Village Centre Redevelopment
Construction of three new multi-storey buildings in the heart of Castleknock village centre including a new flagship retail anchor store, eight new independent retail units, a new café, a two storey medical centre, new residential apartments, multi-level car-parking and a new civi amenity space.
Mannings were appointed Main Contractor and Project Supervisor Construction Stage (PSCS) on this high-spec mixed-use development on a tight site in the heart of Castleknock Village.
Situated within a busy ‘village centre’ setting in Dublin City, the project incorporated construction of three new multi-storey buildings to accommodate a new flagship retail anchor store, eight new independent retail units; new café; two storey medical centre; new residential apartments; multi-level car-parking; goods loading area; new road infrastructure and upgrade works to the existing arterial route into Dublin City and; a new civic amenity space with outdoor seating and architectural lighting features.
The scheme included installation of curtain walling, cladding and brise soleil to the supermarket building, granite stone and brick façade to the medical centre, and brick and alucobond modular cladding to the retail units, and apartments. The main structure comprised a reinforced concrete frame with precast concrete floor slabs. The retail and residential units incorporated integrated canopies and balconies and a high spec interior finish throughout including bespoke fitted wardrobes. A green roof was installed on all three buildings together with other sustainable measures including rainwater harvesting leading to the achievement of the ISO 50001 energy efficiency certification. Travellator and lifts were also provided in the main anchor unit together with high spec M&E fittings including HVAC system.
Ongoing communication with resident’s groups /stakeholders was a key element in the project success.
